EXCITED!
As I shared this past weekend, I am incredibly excited about BEING
the church in 2013!! Here are a few reason why:
1) Baptism celebration
is this weekend (Sunday, Sept. 15th @ 5 pm). The stories you hear this weekend
will remind you of why this church … why THE church exists. You will also be
refreshed in the power of God to save and transform lives!!
Here’s the link for directions.
2) H-O-P-E Weekend
is coming up! On this weekend (Part 4 of “ROOTS”),
we will begin to mobilize our church in a more strategic way to bring hope (I Peter 3:15) to our communities in NW
Georgia.
H: Hurting people
O: Outsiders: people outside the faith and family of God
P: Poverty
E: Education -- investing relationally in children through schools and
literacy
initiatives
3) Being the church
… every week I get to hear stories of how you are being the church. I really
sense God is giving us a new set of eyes with which to see and to engage the
world we find ourselves in. Church is not something we do, it is who we are as
the people of God. As God’s people we are commissioned to bring His blessing to
others -- at work, in the neighborhood, on the team, over dinner, in the gym,
etc.
We are using the word B-L-E-S-S to help us see and seize the
opportunities all around us to be the church.
B: Begin with prayer
L: Listen to people … their stories, their hopes, their lives …
E: Engage (eat) people …
do something relational with the people in your life.
S: Serve them
S: Share THE story … the story of God!!
4) A growing desire to
pray. As the Spirit of God moves the people of God to pray, we can be sure
God is moving! I sense this in my own life right now and others as well. We are
radically dependent on God through prayer. Would you mind stopping and praying
right now: King Jesus, send Your Spirit
into the people of Rock Bridge!
5) God’s promises.
If #1-4 above were not happening, there would still be reason to be excited.
Why? Because of all God promises in His Word to His people. The tomb is empty. The King has been been
announced. God is building the church. We are the church. It is a great time to
be a Christ-follower!
Honored to follow Him with the people of Rock Bridge Community
Church!
